Guild Wars 2 is having some launching issues

August 25th, 2012 by Becky | 1 Comment | Filed in News

If you bought your account early, you might already be aware of this. Today is officially the first day of “Headstart Access”, and the Arenanet team even launched a few hours earlier than their scheduled time! Unfortunately, if you tried to log in from the EU since nearly the beginning, some places in the US, or anytime now, you’re probably expecting some connectivity issues.

Me, I was able to log in for about an hour starting at 1:45am eastern, but then I decided to log out and log back in at 2:30am because my guild was experiencing some issues. Big mistake. I haven’t been able to log back in since (tried until 3:30, then again at about 7:30, and again now, and still no dice). Honestly, it’s alright – I’m not at all upset about it. I’ve got other stuff I have to get done this weekend – all I really cared about was 1) getting into the server of my choice and 2) nabbing some sweet sweet character names, and I was able to do that (whoever already claimed Encyclopedia Brown, you’d best be careful because Bugs Meany is on your trail, mate).

(just in! I was able to log in as of 11:10am edt)

The best part of all of it was the Twitter posts. Arenanet shut down their forums while all of this went down, for obvious reasons, so the only recourse was to pester them on twitter.

It’s hard to be a gamer, guys.

Ultima available on Gog for FREE

June 19th, 2012 by Becky | Comments Off | Filed in Free games, News

Just an FYI for everyone, our favorite GOG.com is giving away two free games! Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire and Ultima: Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams are both Ultima RPGs published in the early 90s. I haven’t played them, but they involve time travel, dinosaurs, and a semblance of a story, which is amazing for that period of gaming. And they’re absolutely free, so why not grab them? All you need is a GOG.com account (which is also free).

Beautiful News from Beautiful Bethesda

May 3rd, 2012 by stephen | Comments Off | Filed in News

Today, dear readers, we will announce what we have all been waiting for! Or don’t care about!

Bethesda has finally announced the first DLC for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim!

“Dawnguard” is the title of Skyrim’s long awaited DLC. Dawnguard will be released this summer on the Xbox 360. When will it be announced for PC or PS3? Who knows! Bethesda has said before that the Xbox 360 exclusivity would only last for 30 days, but we aren’t certain yet.

Unfortunately, no other details have been announced. But e3 is coming up soon! Just under a month away, and we will know more information!

Another groundbreaking piece of information has come from Bethesda!

Have you ever been in the middle of killing a few giant spiders and thought, “I would probably be able to hold my bowels if I only had a friend with me!”?

Well get ready to keep your waste inside!

The Elder Scrolls Online has been announced by Bethesda and ZeniMax Online Studios! Set in the land of Tamriel, the game will take place 1000 years before the events of Skyrim. Again, nothing aside from the anouncments have been confirmed by Bethesda, or ZeniMax. We are sure to see some news when e3 comes up! Of course, if we get hold of info, we will post it here!

Well, we hope you are pleased with this information. I’m pretty excited to be able to wreck some dragons/trolls/spiders/etc with my friends! We look forward to next month, when we can get some more news on these exciting announcements!

Dishonored

Dishonored

Yesterday Bethesda announced Dishonored, a steampunkish assassin game. It looks really interesting, and I’m glad they’re doing something fresh. A lot of people seem to be disappointed that their big announcement was for this and not Skyrim DLC, but I have no idea why. From the blog:

You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with neo-industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you, abilities beyond those of any common man – but at what cost? The truth behind your betrayal is as murky as the waters surrounding the city, and the life you once had is gone forever.

What do you think? Looks exciting, no? I love original content and I have a teensy secret love for Bethesda, too, so hopefully it’ll be good!
